Re.Group supports the Santos Tour Down Under

The Re.Group team had a wonderful time at the Santos Tour Down Under event, engaging with the Campbelltown City Council (SA) community. We educated locals about the award-winning Southern Materials Recovery Facility (SMRF), created via a joint-venture partnership with Southern Region Waste Resource Authority and Re.Group. The community was especially excited to learn about our new artificial intelligence (AI) robots, which help to sort materials and remove contamination.

AI software transforms material on the recycling lines into valuable data using computer vision to distinguish features much the same way as the human eye. Impressively, the AI robot can distinguish material in piled, non-singulated waste and rapidly learns to recognise consumer product branding and any changes to those.

As the first stop on the world cycling calendar, the Santos Tour Down Under kicked off the cycling year in an exhilarating style, and Re.Group is thrilled to have been a part of bringing it to life.
